Members of the Youngstown State University's Chapter of the Ohio Education Association (YSU-OEA) has initiated the process for a State Referendum (also known as a citizens' veto) against SB 1. The initial petition would require 1,000+ signatures from registered Ohio voters and would subsequently be submitted to the Ohio Secretary of State and the Ohio Attorney General. We expect the Ohio AG will reject the first initial petition and a second round will occur. By the end of business April 18, KSUFA will have submitted the signatures it collected. Once verified, signatures would need to be collected from across the state on theĀ actual referendum petition (there are several requirements; you can read more here). If the actual referendum petition is successful, the law would be put to the voters on November 4, 2025. KSUFA plans to attain signature booklets for all 88 counties to be held at the Office (136 N. Water Street, Suite 213, Kent, OH 44240).
